Abstract

882,512. Magazine gramophones. UNITED MUSIC CORPORATION. Aug. 4, 1959, No. 26635/59. Class 40 (2). A juke-box toroidal magazine, mounted on an inclined axis a-a supports the records on a rubber ring 18 and against one or other of the members 8, 9 (depending on gravity) separating them radially by three sets of spacer fingers 11, 14, 17, corresponding fingers being linked by guide wires 19. A twospeed drive for the magazine is provided by a motor 23. In Fig. 4 a high-speed friction drive from the motor shaft 37 via wheels 36, 38 to tyre 7 is engaged. Low speed is via a belt drive from the motor to a shaft 24 (Fig. 6, not shown) thence via 24, 39, 45, 7, either of the drives being engaged by a solenoid-actuated lever 33 pivoted at 35. The solenoid is actuated by means not described associated with the record selecting mechanism when indexing is nearly complete a sprung detent 63, also actuated by the solenoid, pressing against a space between holes 20 and entering one of them to complete registration, associated contact means then stopping the motor 23. The magazine is indexed, by means not described, to diametrically opposed positions to play one or other side of a given record.
