Abstract

807,435. Reverse gear. WALTER INSTRUMENTS Ltd. April 20, 1955 [April 20, 1954], No. 11391/54. Class 80 (2). [Also in Group XXXVIII] The take-off reel, not shown, of a magnetic sound recording and reproducing apparatus, which reel, when the apparatus is recording or reproducing, is pulled in one direction by a capstan, not shown, acting on the recording tape or wire, is driven in the reverse direction by pivoting the reel spindle 14 so that a disc 42 secured thereto engages the belt 45 which conveys the drive from the motor 46 to the pulley 49 of the take-up reel. The take-off reel spindle 13 is carried in a bearing 15 secured to a plate 16 pivoted about a spindle 17 and is urged to disengage disc 42 from belt 45 by a spring 38 acting through an operating plate 18 similarly pivoted and engaging a lug 23 on plate 16. Reverse gear is engaged by actuating a control lever, not shown, which through a linkwork 27, 26, the plate 18 and a tension-spring 25 resiliently engages disc 42 and belt 45.
