Abstract

632,956. Automatic gramophones. MADER, D. March 22, 1947, No. 7893. Convention date, Feb. 6. [Class 40 (ii)] In an automatic gramophone in which records are stacked before play on a centre post and released one by one on to the turntable, the lowermost record is supported by pawls 8 which are withdrawn during the downward movement of a centre shaft 6, which carries a split sleeve 17 having spring branches 18 which co-operate with cam surfaces 22 and are forced outwardly and thereby retain the lowermost but one record of the stack. In two other constructions, Figs. 5 and 7, the fixed lower part of the outer sleeve 1 is split, and spring branches 34 and 52, respectively, are forced outwardly against the penultimate record by the downwardly descending sleeve 33. In the construction shown in Fig. 5 the pawls 36 are withdrawn by means of a pin 40, while in the construction shown in Fig. 7, pawls 46 are withdrawn by a -pin 50 moving in curved slots 49.
