1336749 Gramophone K WATANABE 15 Jan 1971 2054/71 Heading G5R In a gramophone for a record 1 having a plurality of sound grooves which start at equally spaced points around the periphery of the record, each groove is selected by a push rod 4p-4u which extends to the exterior of the gramophone housing. The gramophone includes turntable 5 driven by motor 9 and a speaker 33 mounted on a Y- shaped pivotable member 20 which is urged by blade spring 31 into engagement with pick-up arm 12. The member and the pick-up arm are mounted on a panel 13 through an aperture 14 in which the pick-up stylus extends into engagement with the record 1. At the end of record play pick-up arm 12 engages contact 21 to open the circuit to motor 9. On pressing one of the push rods, e.g. 4s a wheel 24 mounted concentrically below the turntable and carrying the same number of cam members 24p-24u as there are rods is rotated as the rod 4s engages the inclined portion of cam member 24s. The wheel rotation moves a lift member 26 into engagement with the pivotable Y member and lifts this so that under the influence of spring 16 the pick-up arm moves to its start position. This closes contact 21 so that the motor rotates the turntable until a protuberance 2 on the turntable engages the depressed rod 4s and stops the turntable with the start of the selected groove below the stylus. On release of the rod this moves upward under the influence of its spring 23 and spring 27 restores the cam wheel 24 to its initial position so that the Y-shaped member urges the pick-up stylus into engagement with the start of the groove selected by the rod 4s.
