Abstract

954,914. Gramophones; loading. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 11,1961 [Jan. 14, 1960], No. 1199/61. Heading G5R. A record 26 is hand-fed, generally in the direction of a guide-bar 3 and in its own plane engaging a sensing pin 7 and one or more of pins 4, 4<SP>1</SP>, 4 depending on its diameter. The pins 4, 4<SP>1</SP>, 4 are mounted on a sprung slide member 1 and one pin 4 pivotally mounts a plate 5 carrying the pin 7. When the record is adjacent the turntable centre-pin 28, a pin 8 (7<SP>11</SP>), or 9 (10") on the plate 5 or a pin 10 (12<SP>11</SP>) on the slide member 1 is retained by a member 17 rocking a plate 12 about a pivot 22 under the influence of an over-centre spring 20, which retains the plate 12 against one of other of two end-stop pins 14, 15. In the Fig. 2 position, an additional lever 23, previously retained by a means 34 engaging a pin 24, Fig. 1, is released to swing under the influence of a spring 25 to initiate turntable drive &c. The lever 1 may be contoured as at 44, Fig. 5, such that a plate 35 is swung about a pivot 41, according to the position of the slide member 1. An arm 36, on the pick-up arm 31 is held against a pin 38 on the plate 35 by resilient means 43,40, 39,37 to swing the pick-up arm into a starting position appropriate to the size of record.
