Abstract

675,378. Driving gramophones. FORTUNE, H. J., and GARRARD ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. Dec. 14, 1950. [Jan. 10, 1950] No. 644/50. Class 40 (ii). [Also in Group XXIV] A gramophone turntable is driven at normal speed through an idler wheel 3 Fig. 1, and a motor spindle 2. Two low speed-driving members 10, 11 are mounted on a plate 7, pivoted about the spindle 2, and are driven from the spindle by belts 14, 15. The wheel 3 is mounted on a plate 5 which has pins engaging in arcuate and radial slots in the motor board, so that the plate may have limited arcuate and radial movement. A spring 5a urges the wheel against a driving member and the turntable. When a knob Figs. 2 and 3, (not shown) is rotated a lever rotates the plate 7 to bring one of the driving members 10, 11 into engagement with the wheel 3 and to move the wheel off the spindle 2. A spring urged index lever and stop members are provided to hold the operating lever in the set positions. The plate 5 is so mounted that the angle between the axis of the turntable, idler wheel, and driving member is a right angle for each of the members 2,10,11.
