Abstract

882,382. Fluid-pressure brakes. FABBRICA ITALIANA MAGNETI MARELLI S.p.A. July 16, 1959 [July 16, 1958], No. 24489/59. Class 103 (1). In a control valve with two sections for fluid-operated braking systems, two valve arrangements are controlled by a single pushrod 8, operatively connected to a brake foot lever (not shown) which acts on a rocker plate 9 to control valve arrangements 25, 24, the rocker being provided with an extension at one end to accommodate an advance device in the form of a spring 36 which acts to operate the righthand valve arrangement before the other valve arrangement and movement of the push-rod 8 causes depression of a spring-loaded ram 32 to close an electrical circuit when ram 32 depresses a push-button 38 controlling the contact device 30 to close the signal and stop lamp circuit. Depression of rocker plate 9 causes section 2 to operate before section 1, which is an advantage for tractor-trailer braking systems, and regulating springs 16, 17 are depressed to move plungers 181 and blocks 25 downwardly to open valve members 24 and permit flow of compressed air from reservoir connection 23 to brake cylinder pipe connection 21. When the brake is released, the plungers 181 are raised and the valve members 24 are closed and exhaust of air from chamber 20 is permitted through hollow bore 251 of block 25 to atmosphere.
