856,638. Fluid-pressure brakes. HAMPEJS; K. Oct. 9, 1957, No. 31565/57. Class 103 (1). A driver's brake valve for a two-circuit compressed-air braking system comprises a body formed of three parts 1, 2, 3 which, when clamped together form a mounting for diaphragms 4, 5, the first diaphragm 4 being connected to a first piston 6 and the second diaphragm being connected to a second piston 18, the first piston being adapted to move downwardly when the piston 11 is displaced by means of an actuating force in the direction of the arrow shown to lift valve member 16 away from seat 17 and permit compressed-air to flow between a first air reservoir connection 14 and a connection 39 to the brake cylinders of the first circuit. The increase in pressure in the second cylindrical chamber 12 causes the second piston 18 to move downwardly against the action of an adjustable spring 23 to open a second valve member 26 and permit flow of compressed-air from compressed-air reservoir connection 22 to the connection 40 to the brakes of the brake cylinders of the second circuit. Should pressure fail in the first circuit movement of the first piston 6 will cause thrust rods 29, which rest on the top surface of the piston 18, to be engaged by the underside of piston 6 to thereby depress the second piston 18 and open valve member 26. Adjustment of the spring 23 by means of a regulating screw 24 ensures a time lag or pressure lead of the first circuit.
