1496391 Fluid pressure brakes FABRICA ITALIANA MAGNETI MARELLI SpA 24 March 1975 [3 April 1974] 12118/75 Heading F2F A regulator valve 5, which supplies full air pressure from a distributer 1 to front brake actuators 3 on failure in a rear brake circuit in a braking system with a load-responsive valve 4 between the distributer 1 and the rear actuators 2, is normally responsive to the rear brake pressure and comprises a first movable element 21 with a stem 25 for actuating a shut-off valve 31 between the distributer 1 (port A) and the front brakes (port C) and a second coaxial movable element 22 with a hollow body 32 providing a valve seat 34 for the shut-off valve 31 and a piston part 33, the shut off valve being opened in the absence of rear brake pressure (at port B). The pressure regulator and 3 way relay valve in Fig. 2 further comprises two pistons 23, 24 subject to the front and rear brake pressures, control springs 36, 37 and extensions 26, 28, 38 and 39 for limiting travel of the movable elements 21, 22. An alternative regulator (Fig. 4, not shown) has a first movable element (21a) with a single piston (23a) and co-operable with a hollow valve member (48) which extends through an end wall of the regulator for venting the front brakes.
