Class 79(5) Apparatus controlling the drive and braking of a vehicle comprises a foot pedal 15, a drive push rod 7 with a plunger 8 in a primary hydraulic cylinder 9, a plunger 11 in secondary hydraulic cylinder 10 which normally moves in unison with pushrod 7 and is connected to the vehicle engine throttle or other speed control and a brake push rod 6 which withdraws hydraulic fluid from the hydraulic cylinders 9, 10 when depressed and returns the fluid when released. In Fig.. 1 on depression of pushrod 7 displacing plungers 8 and 11 to the left fluid passes from cylinder 10 through passage 36 and pushes piston 31 along pushrod 6 against spring 32. When the base of pedal 15 and pushrod 6 is also depressed, against a force 39 from the brakes, movement of plunger 30 withdraws fluid from the cylinders 9, 10 while piston 31 pushes fluid through passage 36 into cylinder 10 moving plunger 11 to the right and closing the engine throttle. A vent 34 is provided between plunger 30 and piston 31. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3, the body of the apparatus is a fluid reservoir from which cylinder 9 is normally sealed by the conical face 79 of the brake pushrod seating on face 61 of the body while fluid from cylinder 10 may enter the reservoir through passage 64. When the seal 79/61 is made fluid may return from the reservoir to cylinder 9 through one way valve 73. The hydraulic connection between the pushrods 6 and 7 may be replaced by a mechanical, electrical or pneumatic connection.
