Abstract

881,580. Carburetters. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. Aug. 24, 1960 [Sept. 4, 1959], No. 29289/60. Class 7(3). In a carburetter the float housing is arranged to be traversed by a flow of fuel additional to the amount of fuel intended for consumption in the engine. As shown a fuel flow through the housing is produced by an electrically operated pump 9 which delivers fuel through a constriction or throttle 11 to a return conduit 8. A thermostatic switch 15 makes contact automatically in dependence on the fuel temperature in the housing for example at temperatures from 45‹C. upwards and energize the pumps 9 and 4. To prevent fuel from flowing back to the housing 1 through the conduits 8 and 10, in certain cases, valve means (not shown) may be provided. The pump which draws fuel from the float housing and delivers it to the return conduit may be the only electrically operated pump and this pump may be thermostatically controlled.
