881,527. Distributing liquids in columns. PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIKEN N.V. July 17, 1958 [July 20, 1957], No. 22970/58. Drawings to Specification. Class 55 (2). A gas fractionatin; column is provided with a device for uniformly distributing liquid gas which comprises a member having an upwardly converging outer surface arranged below a nozzle for supplying a jet of liquid gas to the apex of the member, the lower edge of which comprises projections. The member may be a cone or a spherical sector. Preferably the projections subtend different angles with the vertical axis of the member. The projections may be in the form of teeth which are alternately bent inwards and outwards. Preferably the outer surface of the member is provided with incisions spaced at regular intervals around the surface above the projections and so constructed that the parts of the surface displaced by the incisions are directed downwardly as projections from the surface. The nozzle may have a downwardly-converging perforated surface. The member may be constructed from copper or brass in sheet or gauze form.
