Abstract

880,490. Junction boxes. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. April 19, 1960 [April 15, 1959], No. 12801/59. Class 38 (1). An outdoor terminal box having the bottom wall incorporating a metal cable gland 16 is made of resin bonded glass fibre and has downwardly projecting tubular insulators 4 devoid of petticoats. The term glass fibre includes inorganic filaments. A skirt is formed integral with the box wall and protects the point of entry of the insulator into the box from driving rain. A shirt can be provided around each insulator or there may be a single shirt surrounding the upper ends of all the insulators. An anti-tracking filler, e.g. silica or alumina, can be included in the composition of the box. The insulators can be made from resin-bonded glass fibre, or porcelain or a composite.
