Abstract

879,973. Direct connections between conductors. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. March 7, 1958 [March 13, 1957], No. 8262/57. Class 38 (1). A contact clip 14 (Fig. 2) of a fuse distribution board is connected to bus-bars 15 through copper conductor 10 which is secured to insulating support 11 and is pressed against bus-bars 15 by bolts 20 screwing into nuts 17 which are trapped between members 10 and support 11. Nuts 17 have hexagonal flanges 19 accommodated in hexagonal holes in steel plate 16. The pressure of bolts 20 is distributed by pressure plate 21 over the area of contact between bus-bars 15 and member 16. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 3) the bus-bars are replaced by a cylindrical stem 22 which passes through holes in member 10 and support 11 and is screwed, pinned and sweated to a contact block 23. The steel plate 16 is slotted at one side of the hole for member 22, to prevent circulating currents.
