877,847. Heat treating tungsten. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 26, 1960 [Feb. 26, 1959] No. 6842/60. Class 72 [Also in Group XXII] A method of making an anode disc 1 for use in a rotary anode X-ray tube comprises forming the disc with a flat central part 4 and a bevelled edge 3 from a material (tungsten) which has a fibrous structure produced by rolling. An annular strip 2 is heated by high frequency means to the recrystallization temperature while the back of the disc is cooled by a stream of non-oxidizing gas. In some tubes two adjacent focal spots are used and if these are widely spaced the strips may be heated separately.
