Abstract
877,568. Valves. EVANS, F. H. March 31, 1959 [March 31, 1958], No. 10313/58. Class 135. A removable resilient seating, e.g. of nylon or high-density polythene, made to fit a bib tap having a bore of predetermined diameter in a seating diaphragm 4, comprises a shank 10, a head 11 and a tapered end 12, the shank being straight between the head and tapered end with an external diameter which before insertion in the bore is about 0.025 inch greater than the internal diameter of the bore in which the shank is located and of a length not less than the depth of the bore, the wall thickness of the shank being such that the radial pressure exerted by the bore on the whole wall of the shank assures an internal liquid seal throughout the joint between the shank and the bore. The seat may be assembled by compression through a jumper 6 which may be of nylon and may have one or more concentric ridges contacting a flat or convex surface 13 on the seat. Specification 801,662 is referred to.
