Abstract
877,515. Toy railways. EINFALT, A., and EINFALT, J., [trading . as EINFALT BLECHSPIELWARENFABRIK GEB.]. March 13, 1958 [Jan. 13, 1958], No. 8124/58. Class 132(3). A railway shunting toy comprises single track sections E, E' hinged at S, S' to a double track section 1, the single sections being' made so as to fold beneath the double section. Projections 2, 3, 5 for engaging control and coupling members of clockwork propelled locomotive 6 and of carriages W, W<SP>1</SP> are formed on the track sections. A control member on the locomotive has depending ends 9, 9<SP>1</SP> for engagement with the projections 5, 5<SP>1</SP> for reversing the locomotive, and the carriages have coupling members 10 of which the ends 13 are vertically movable and engageable in an aperture 14 or transverse member 15 of the locomotive; the members 10, also have depending projections A. In operating the toy, the carriages are placed one on each of the two tracks of the track section 1 and the locomotive is allowed to engage the carriage W of which, when a coupling portion 13 engages in the aperture 14, the corresponding end of the member 10 is lifted and the projection A clears the track projection 2. As the locomotive approaches the end of the section E<SP>1</SP> the projection 5<SP>1</SP> engages the locomotive control member 9<SP>1</SP> and the locomotive is reversed and passes on to part F of the double track section ]. The carriage W<SP>1</SP> now becomes coupled to the locomotive, and carriage W is uncoupled by the action of the track projection 3. The locomotive then pushes the carriage W<SP>1</SP> on to the single track section E where the locomotive is reversed by the projection 5 and, now drawing carriage W<SP>1</SP>, travels again on to part F<SP>1</SP> of the double track section 1. The carriage W is then uncoupled by ,the action of the projection 3<SP>1</SP> and the locomotive, after reversal by the projection 5<SP>1</SP> on section E<SP>1</SP>, engages carriage W on part F of section 1 to recommence the cycle with the carriages having been interchanged and the locomotive starting from the track section E<SP>1</SP>. The sequence continues until the clockwork has run down.
