Abstract

603,469. Single-rail railways; stub switches. CURRYER, R. J. Dec. 10, 1945, No. 33259. [Classes 104 (i) and 104 (ii)] Vehicles with soft - tyred wheels 12, Fig. 2, are guided by wheels 14, 15 revolving on cranked vertical axles 13 and engaging a sunken channel 16 in the track. The wheels 12 may be single or twin and may form part of a bogie truck. The channel 16 may remain open or be partly closed. To divert vehicles, the points comprise a pivoted stub channel 28, Fig. 4, to direct the guide wheels to channel 31. The point 28 is pivoted at 32 and has side wings 34, 35 to cover the lateral gaps. A metal nose-piece 33 may be provided, and the channels 16, 31 may have partial covering 29, 30. The system is applicable to light, miniature, and toy railways.
