Class 17(2) A foot exercise sandal comprises a wooden sole 1, Fig. 2, having a transversely curved hump 4, for engagement by the toes, and a strap 7, 7<SP>1</SP> Fig. 20, located in front of the instep. The hump 4 is low under the small toe, increases in height under the middle toe and decreases under the big toe to merge into a depression 3 for the ball of the foot. A depression 2 is also provided for the heel. The strap halves 7, 7<SP>1</SP> may be of padded leather or plastic and are attached to the sole by screws or bolts in conjunction with spiked washers and metal plates. A buckle may have one or two prongs 34 and a sleeve 36 slidable to cover the prongs when the buckle is fastened. A toe separating sleeve 19 may be fitted to the sole and supported by an extension 31 of the strap half 7. Grooves may be formed in the base of the sole to reduce its weight and a layer of rubber may be attached.
