Abstract
876,758. Pneumatic conveyers. INSTITUT DE RECHERCHES DE LA SIDERURGIE FRANCAIS. March 9, 1960 [March 11, 1959], No. 8298/60. Class 78 (1). The wall of a distributer 1 for powdered lime converges downwardly and is continued by the inner cone 8 of a detachable fluidizing bottom 2. This cone terminates in an outlet 12 which can be closed by a needle valve 6. The cone 8 is separated by a space 10 from the outer cone 9 and is formed with a large number of nozzles, usually greater than 100, through which a gas, e.g. oxygen, supplied by a pipe 19 passes into the material. A series of vents 14 in the lower end of the cone direct the gas into the outlet 12 to keep it clear. The apical angle of the bottom 2 is 60 degrees ; but, in a modification (not shown) this angle is increased to 150 degrees and the nozzle-carrying cone 8 is replaced by a cone made of stamped porous and sintered bronze. In both constructions the rod 15 of the needle valve is actuated by pneumatic apparatus 7 mounted on a spider 17.
