876,158. Mixing appliances. LODIGE, W., LODIGE, F., and LUCKE, J. Nov. 19, 1958 [Dec. 20, 1957], No. 37247/58. Class 86 A mixing and comminuting method and apparatus particularly for dyestuffs, for mixing fibrous materials as asbestos, paper and lintens with powders, or for mixing small quantities of liquid with solids to form a granulate, comprises a horizontal cylindrical container 1 with rotating axial shaft 5 carrying paddles 7 which may be ploughshare shaped; and rotating cutters 13, (see also Fig. 6, not shown). The paddles and cutters are so arranged that the material is continuously interchanged between them. A paddle is provided at the extreme end of the cylinder as at 9a. Liquid may be supplied from a container 14 through a pipe 15 to the centre of the cutter 13 by the rapid rotation of which it is atomized; or by way of a hollow shaft 9a, as at 16. In these cases the cutter con- sists of a centrifuging disc with blades ar- ranged round its periphery, (Fig. 3, not shown-).
