930,141. Mixing appliances. F. DIERKS, F. W. DIERKS, and W. DIERKS. Aug. 10, 1959 [Aug. 9, 1958; April 4, 1959], No. 27335/59. Class 86. A batch mixing apparatus especially for agglomerating synthetic plastics has a container 6 with a downwardly curved bottom 7 having a fixed coaxial tapering hub 8 in which is mounted a shaft 5 rotatable in a predetermined direction and detachably carrying three super-imposed sets of blades 9, 10, 11, each set consisting of two or more equally spaced blades. The bottom blades 9 extend downwardly and outwardly close to the hub and the container bottom and are angled to direct material away from their associated surfaces; the middle blades 10 are horizontal and angled so that their inner third directs the materials downwardly and their outer two-thirds, upwardly; the top blades 11 are upwardly inclined and angled to urge the material outwardly. The container has a cover 13 with a tapered depending central portion 14 in the form of a surface of revolution through which may pass an inlet 18 for a liquid additive which may be a plasticizer. A spray device for the liquid may comprise a disc 16 having radial channels formed between ribs 17 and mounted on the blade securing nut 15. There may be a container jacket for a heating or cooling medium.
