Abstract

1345260 Mixing &c GEORG FISCHER AG 19 April 1971 [3 April 1970] 26053/71 Heading B1C [Also in Division B3] Granular material such as foundry sand is prepared by bringing two quantities of the material into contact, rotating one quantity relative to the other, and centrifugally discharging a layer of this material from the area of contact. Material in a rotary container 10 is contacted by material from a fixed tubular container 1, and material is discharged as a layer from a gap 12 between the containers, cooling air being blown into the layer from an annular slit 21. Stirrers 7 and the container 10 may be vibrated. Two of the apparatuses shown in Fig. 1 may be arranged in series. In the modification shown in Fig. 3 two tubular containers 24, 25 are contra-rotatable and have conveyers 26, 27. The conveyers may be dispensed with when the containers are each slightly inclined. Binding and other additives may be added during preparation.
