Abstract
875,547. Gas compressors. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Dec. 7, 1959 [Dec. 11, 1958], No. 41474/59. Class 8(1). A hermetically sealed compressor comprising a motor-compressor unit 1 resiliently mounted within a casing 3, and the weight of the unit is normally taken by a spring 8 mounted within a ringed cup 9 and located with respect to the unit 1 by a pin 12 welded thereon, the ring 17 providing seating means during the composition of high downward loads. A stroded tensioned cable 20 is held in a large horizontal loop to the top of the unit 1 by straps 31 welded thereon and partly supports, rotationally controls and limits upward movement of the unit 1, through the four spring fingers 27 and 28 they being part of the member 24 whose said section 25 is welded to the-casing 3 along with the bumper 16 which provides seating means during the composition of severe upward forces. The fingers 27 and 28 have hook ends 29, gripping the cable 20 through sleeves 30 crimped to the wire ; tabs 34 formed on the sleeves 30 prevent relative movement between fingers 29 and the sleeve 30.
