Abstract

886,062. Street lighting fittings. EL-BE ELEKTRISKA A. B. March 4, 1960 [March 5, 1959], No. 7824/60. Class 75(4) [Also in Group XXIII] In a lamp fixture for use on posts, wires or other high mountings, in which the lamp holder can be swung from a position in which the lamp axis is inclined to the horizontal to one in which it is directed vertically downwards, the lamp holder and parts of the fixture connected thereto are substantially weight balanced about the pivotal axis when the lamp is in or near its normal i.e. operative position. In the form shown, the fixture is carried at the upper end of a post and comprises an inverted trough 2 which forms also a reflector for a gas discharge lamp 3, and a bottom cover 4 pivoted at 5 to the trough 2. The cover 4 carries a reflector 6 supporting a lamp holder 7. A reactance coil 12 is also mounted on the cover so that the centre of gravity of the system is above and slightly to the left of the pivot 5 when the lamp 3 is in normal position. A spring 13 may also be secured to the cover 4 so as to urge it upwards into closed position and shifting its position relative to the pivot pins 5 when the cover 4 is swung down into lowered position. For changing lamps, a long-arm 9 terminating in a rubber cup 8 may be provided, the edge of the cover 4 being provided with a forked member 10 for guiding the long-arm 9 and which may also serve as a snap catch for securing the cover in the closed position.
