Abstract

702,677. Lighting fittings. FRANCOBRITISH ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd., and BRACKENSEY, A. H. March 19, 1952 [March 19, 1951], No. 6564/51. Class 75 (4) A lighting fitting comprises a supporting structure having several arms 1 radiating from a central mounting for a transformer 8, an annular or polygonal frame 4 supported on the outer ends of the arms 1 and having an open bottom over which a screen 7 of translucent louvres is supported, and an electric discharge tube 11 mounted between the frame 4 and the central mounting. As shown a spun metal frame 4 has lugs 5 which rest on the ends of the arms 1, the latter being cranked downwardly near the centre to provide the transformer mounting and a support for a reflector 3. A spiral electric discharge tube 11 is supported by brackets 12 depending from the arms 1. In alternative arrangements the frame 4 may be formed with panels of translucent glass or plastic material and the discharge tube may be of sinuous or zig-zag shape.
