Class 52(4) A spring unit for a seat, comprises an upper frame 1, 2 supported by a ring of helical coil springs 6 from a lower frame 7, 8, the centre of the unit being free of coil springs and the open cental part of the upper frame being spanned by webbing 4 or spring steel straps or the like. Preferably the spring steel straps take the form of zig-zag wire springs and the turns of adjacent coils of the helical springs are interlinked. The ring of helical springs may comprise one or more rows of springs.
