Abstract
708,394. Mattresses. NON-SAG SEATING CO., Ltd., and WILES, F. H. Sept. 8, 1952 [May 15, 1952], No. 12342/52. Class 52(4) An upholstered seat, or seat back or bed includes a spring system carried by a rigid frame such system comprising spring strips secured to the frame and to tension springs.- As shown, applied to a vehicle seat a rigid seat frame 1 and seat back frame 2 are provided and to the crossmembers 3, 4 of which are connected the ends of spring strips 6 which are also connected to tension helical springs 10. The ends of the strip springs 6 enter into apertures in the cross-members 3, 4 and are anchored thereto by threading rods 7 through the members 3, 4. The springs 6 pass, at least partially, around the members 3, 4 and are spaced therefrom and extend to the helical springs 10 to which they are connected. In the case of the front of the seat and, if necessary, of the 'lateral sides the springs 6 have continuations 6a inclined upwardly and outwardly the ends of which are connected to a flexible edge 11.
