Abstract
1,001,226. Resilient mountings. VIBRACHOC. March 25, 1963 [April 6, 1962], No. 11724/63. Heading F2S. A resilient support of the kind comprising a piston 10 which frictionally engages and is centred by a pair of oppositely-acting springs 22, 23 within, a cylindrical casing 1 is characterized in that the piston comprises a pad of wire wool or cloth 11, e.g. of stainless steel wire, which is retained between two metal washers 13, 14 which are of smaller diameter than the pad 11 and have their rims curved away from the latter. The washers 13, 14 are slid on to a reduced portion 17 at the lower end of a pistonrod 16, the washer 14 being retained in position by a washer 20 locked, e.g. by crimping over the rod end. The upper end of the rod 15 has a tapped hole 16 to facilitate the mounting of an article thereon and a lower closure plate 3 is secured by tubular rivets 4 to a flange 2 on the cylinder 1, resilient pads 24, 25 being interposed between the outer ends of the springs 22, 23 respectively and an inturned flange 5 at the upper end of the cylinder 1 and the lower closure plate 3. The piston 10 may be formed from steel wire woven into tubular or strip shape, fluted or crimped, and wound spiral-wise about a broken stainless steel ring.
