Abstract

875,200. Heat-storing apparatus. UNION CARBIDE CORPORATION. July 9, 1959 [July 22, 1958], No. 23616/59. Class 64(2) [Also in Groups XXII and XXVIII] A vaporizer 32 (see Group XXVIII), in which a liquefied gas such as oxygen is heated by atmospheric air, comprises a brine-filled chamber 54 bounded by a wall 50 and a wall 40 having internal, liquefied gas passages 42, 58, 60, 62 and 64 The brine in chamber 54 serves as a heat reservoir in the event of the demand for gaseous oxy. gen (being discharged through a duct 34) being greater than can be met by the inflow of heat from the atmosphere through the wall 40. In the event of the brine freezing, the latent heat thereof provides further heat to effect vaporization of the oxygen.
