874,429. Sanitary mattresses. LIT TOUS SOINS. Aug. 5, 1958 [Aug. 5, 1957; July 24, 1958], No. 25053/58. Class 52(2). The aperture 4 in a sanitary mattress is lined with resilient plastic material 5 which can frictionally grip and retain an inserted drainage funnel 9. A detachable impermeable cover 6 in two parts connected around the mattress periphery by press studs 8 or laces &c. can be provided and the receptacle 11 is preferably clamped against the mattress supporting frame 12 beneath the aperture. The mattress may be of foamed rubber and a reinforcing band of rubber can be provided around the aperture to increase the grip on the funnel rim. In a modification shown in Fig. 6 the funnel 9 has an integral extension 7 detachably connected to the cover 6.
