Abstract
872,298. Roller bearing cages. TORRING- TON CO. Aug. 15, 1957 [Oct. 10, 19561, No. 25731/57. Class 12 (1). A roller bearing cage comprises circular end portions 16 connected by narrow resilient bars 17 of constant width having central offset portions 19 of reduced diameter which limit inward radial movement of the rollers 14. Offset portions 18 adjacent the ends 16 serve to guide the rollers 14. An outer race 11 has radial ends 12 and flanges 13 for retaining the cage and housing lubricant. In a modification, an outer race 21 is formed with inwardly extending ends 22 and a cage 23 has circular ends 24 and central portions 26 of reduced diameter. The cage may be formed from tubular material or from flat material. In the latter case, the cage is held together by end collars.
