[Also in Group XXII] A cage for a roller bearing comprises a cylindrical sleeve in -which are punched -slots or windows 2 to receive -rollers 1. Said windows have varying widths over their length such that their ends 5 are narrower in width than the rollers, with adjacent portions 6 wider than the rollers followed by a central portion 7of reduced width Bar portions 9 and 10 are integral with end rings 3 and are offset but parallel and associate with the window portions 5 and 7. Oblique or radially extending portions 11 connect the bar portions 9 and 10 and the rollers are retained therebetween in the windows 2, on the inside and outside of the pitch circle line 8, respectively. The spacing of the bar portions situated outside the pitch circle is greater than the bar portions on the inside of the pitch circle and hence the rollers bear only on guide surface 14. The radial freedom of the cage between inner and outer raceways 15 and 16, respectively, is less than the radial freedom of each two inter-associated guide surfaces 14 relative to the surface 13 of the roller. Other embodiments include a cage arrangement where the guiding is effected on the outer bar portions only with or without a reversed offset portion and where the guiding may be effected by noses located on the centre portion of the bars.
