Abstract
871,615. Electric tests. BURNDEPT Ltd. Dec. 5, 1957 [Sept. 5, 1956], No. 27204/56. Class 37. The presence of a body is detected by a tuned anode-tuned grid oscillator the reactance of one of the tuned circuits of which is so modified by the body that oscillation ceases. As shown, the oscillator comprises triode having crystal 2 and resistor 3 in the grid circuit and tuned circuit 4 in series with the anode. The body to be detected, e.g. a dry cell brought by a conveyer to a filling or sealing device increases the capacitance to earth of plate 11 connected to the anode of the triode so that oscillation ceases. The increase of current in the anode circuit operates a relay 14 connected between the potentiometer tapping and the junction of resistor 5 with the tuned circuit to effect any desired control and to connect capacitor 19 into the anode circuit so ensuring that oscillation restarts when the object moves away. Movement of the relay armature may reduce the capacity between the armature and an adjustable plate 22 connected in parallel with the anode capacitance.
