Abstract

870,921. Locking bolts. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CONSTRUCTION CO. Ltd. April 2, 1959 [April 3, 1958], No. 10855/58. Class 89(1). A device for locking a T-headed bolt 4 or the equivalent against rotation during the tightening of a nut on the bolt when the bolt is in a slot 6 through which its head 5 can pass only when the longer side A of the bolthead is substantially parallel to the longer side B of the slot, comprises a metal plate 1 having two legs 2, the shape of which is such that the head 5 can fit between them when sides A, B are parallel and be retained by them when rotated from this position for tightening the nut. As shown, the legs, which may be welded to plate 1, are of arcuate form and disposed diagonally opposite each other. Feet 3 on the legs 2 bear against the work when the device is inserted with or before the bolt. Alternatively, the legs may be permanently secured to the work.
