870,410. Liquid fuel burners. HARPER & CO. Ltd., JOHN, and COLBOURNE, S. April 6, 1960 [April 17, 1959], No. 13066/59. Class 75(1). In a burner comprising an annular fuel trough 11 having an asbestos kindler 19 and surmounted by cylindrical inner and outer perforated sleeves forming an annular combustion chamber, one or more cross fuel channels 12 fitted with kindlers 18 are joined at their ends to the annular fuel trough 11 and are surmounted by planar perforated sleeves forming additional combustion chambers. The planar perforated sleeves and the inner perforated cylindrical sleeve are formed by four quadrantal shaped sleeves 17. Each sleeve 17 is closed at the top by a cap 20 and has a perforated baffle 22 near its lower open end. The annular trough 11 and the cross channels 12 are formed in a burner bowl 10 having air openings 13 leading to the quadrantal sleeves 17 and having a central connection 14 for an oil supply pipe. The quadrantal sleeves 17 are held in rebates in the burner bowl by bolts 25 extending through aligned openings in the caps 20, baffles 22, bracing strips,21 in the sleeves 17 and bars 23 crossing the air openings 13 in the-bowl 10.
