Abstract

870,165. Cable end sleeves and joints. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CONSTRUCTION CO. Ltd. Oct. 16, 1959 [Oct. 16, 1958], No. 33048/58. Addition to 833,787. Drawings to Specification. Classes 36 and 38 (1). A cable sheath of rubber or plastics is sealed to a jointing or terminating fitting through which the cable passes by building up a poultice, in situ, from synthetic resin in a plastic reactive condition and flexible reinforcing material, e.g. glass fibre tape, which is wrapped around the joint between the sheath and the fitting. The resin is of the type which sets without heating and adheres to the sheath and fitting, which may be pretreated with a priming solution to improve adhesion. The resins and methods of application are similar to those of the parent Specification.
