Abstract

869,410. Projectiles. BOFORS A. B. March 22, 1960. [April 13, 1959], No. 10116/60. Class 9(1). A projectile or rocket has a wing comprising a fixed part 1, and a plastic folding flap 2 which is actuated by a torsion spring 3 into an unfolded position in which it forms an extension of the fixed part. A bolt 8 is actuated by a spring 9 to hold the flap in the unfolded position, a releasable locking pin 10 being arranged to retain the bolt when the flap is folded, Fig. 2 (not shown), and a lug 6 on a light alloy part 4 of the flap moving the pin to allow the bolt to engage the flap when, or immediately before, the flap has reached the unfolded position. The flap is prevented from turning beyond the unfolded position by a lug (not shown) on the part 4, which engages a stop 12 on the wing part 1.
