Abstract

868,727. Tube walls for furnaces. SULZER FRERES S.A. Nov. 5, 1958 [Nov. 8, 1957], No. 35575/58. Class 51 (1). [Also in Group XIII] Vertical tubes 32 spaced round the walls of a vapour generator furnace are supported from the framework by rods 64 secured to the upper headers 30, and bearers 68 welded to the tubes 32 support sinuously bent tubes 34 grouped and connected in parallel. Lugs 74 welded to the tubes 34 and sliding on the inner flanges of the bearers 68 allow the tubes 34 to expand, Figs. 4, 5. In a modification, Fig. 8 (not shown), vertical groups of sinuous tubes are carried by a single bearer welded to the supporting tubes. The majority of the tubes are welded to the horizontal bearer, but the inner tubes 86 of each U-bend are resiliently supported, Fig. 9, since the radius of the bend in these tubes is not sufficient to allow for expansion.
