Abstract
867,963. Dispensing pumps. LEWIS BERGER & SONS Ltd. Dec. 2, 1959 [Dec. 15,1958], No. 41021/59. Class 102(1). A piston 5 is axially but non-rotatably movable in a sleeve 4 rotatably mounted in a housing 1. A plug 8 engages a groove 10 in the sleeve 4 to prevent axial movement and the end 22 is engageable with longitudinal grooves 23, 24, 25 in the piston 5, which grooves are of different lengths and are joined to a common longitudinal groove 29 at one end by grooves 30, 31, 32 and a common circumferential groove 26 at the other end so that the piston 5 may be locked in its inner position or withdrawn to the extent allowed by one of the grooves 23, 24, 25 after rotating the piston, during which time the interior of the sleeve communicates with a passage 2 leading to a reservoir, Further rotation of the piston causes relative movement of the end 22 of the pin 8 in one of the grooves 30, 31, 32 until the end enters the groove 29 and at the same time the sleeve 4 closes the inlet 2 and opens an outlet, thereafter the piston 4 may be pushed in to deliver the selected volume of liquid. The pump is used for dispensing coloured paint into a base paint.
