Abstract

867,623. Inking-apparatus. GERICKE, E. May 6, 1959 [Oct. 31, 1958], No. 15516/59. Class 100(2) An offset printing-machine comprises an inking system in which each alternate inking roller is mounted in the machine frame while the other rollers are mounted in a roller frame which can be tilted about a fulcrum on the machine frame, a guide pin on the machine frame is arranged to lock the roller frame in position, and a control lever is provided for arresting the roller frame in various positions, the control lever having a forked member which is so positioned with respect to the guide pin that in a first position it engages or releases the pin, while in the remaining positions it slides over the pin and thus locks the roller frame in its various positions. The rollers 8, 10, 12, Fig. 3, are supported on a roller frame 1 carrying a shaft 14 on which is pivoted a control lever 2 with a forked portion 6 co-operating with a fixed pin 7. A pin 3 on the lever engages in one of a number of grooves in a quadrant 4 also carried on the frame 1. In position III shown, the rollers are in contact with the fixed rollers 9, 11 and the rollers 8, 10 with the printing cylinder. In position II, the rollers are out of contact with the printing cylinder while in contact with the fixed rollers. In position III, the portion 6 can be drawn clear of the pin, so that by means of the lever 2 the frame 1 can be swung upwards through about 180 degrees until retained by an abutment 13 on the machine wall 23. When the pin 7 and portion 6 are out of engagement, the shaft 14 and lever 2 are prevented from movement relative to the frame 1 by mechanism at the opposite end of the shaft 14. As the portion 6 leaves the pin 7, a fork member 6<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 6, leaves a fixed pin 71, releasing a lever 17 mounted on the shaft for movement limited by a pin 22 on the member 6<SP>1</SP>. A spring 18 then moves a catch 16 pivoted at 20 on the frame 1, displacing a stud 19 on the lever 17, until a recess in the catch engages a pin 15 on the shaft and locks it. If the catch 16 fails to move into locking position, a fixed abutment 24 engages it and prevents raising of the frame 1.
