867,445. Cooling liquids in bulk. NATIONAL SMELTING CO. Ltd. Sept. 10, 1959 [Oct. 17, 1958], No. 33246/58. Class 64(3) A hollow, thin-walled, water-cooled drum rotating about a generally vertical axis is immersed in a bath of molten metal 12 such as zinc or lead which is thereby cooled. In the form shown, the drum 1 which may be cylindrical or conical, is rotated by means of a belt 7 and pulley 8. Fixed vanes 6 mounted within the drum on the water inlet pipe 4, prevent water from rotating with the drum. Further vanes 11 depending from a fixed skirt 10 dipping into the molten metal, prevent the metal from being agitated by the rotation of the drum. Heat insulating material (not shown) may be provided on the upper surface and neck portion 1a of the drum. Specification 812,837 is referred to.
