Abstract

866,955. Centrifugal pumps. WEIR Ltd., G. & J: Feb. 11, 1960 [Jan. 20, 1959], No. 2071/59. Class 110 (1). A centrifugal pump comprises a barrel casing 1 surrounding an assembly of stationary parts 2-6, the diffuser 8 of the last stage being attached to the stationary part 6. Metallic sealing rings 9, 10 abut against adjacent faces of the diffuser 8 and an end cover 7, a sealing bellows 11 being connected to the rings whereby leakage between the cover 7 and the assembly of stationary parts is prevented. The ring 9 is pressed against the diffuser 8 by the resilience of the bellows 11 and a number of circumferentially spaced compression springs 12 together with the pressure difference between the outlet and inlet of the diffuser. The parts 2-6 are also pressed into sealing contact with one another and a seal 14.
