Abstract

827,590. Centrifugal pumps. HAYWARD-TYLER CO. Ltd., and HETHERINGTON, T. June 25, 1956 [May 25, 1955], No. 15064/55. Class 110 (1). In a multi-stage centrifugal pump, the stator parts are held end-to-end in abutment with each other by resilient means. In the submersible pump shown, each stage has an annular partition 17 in sealing engagement with the tubular casing 1 by means of a sealing ring 18 and with the impeller 9 by means of a wearing ring 18a. A diffuser disc 14, sealed to the impeller boss 12 by a sealing bush 16, carries diffuser vanes 13 and guide vanes 19. The discs 14 and partitions 17 of the several stages are held end-to-end in abutment with each other between flanges 20 and 23 by means of a helical spring 22, an end disc 21 being interposed. Where there are more than, say, sixteen stages, the pump casing is divided into two or more sections, connected together end-to-end, each section having its stator parts held together as described.
