Abstract

Improvements in the construction of corrosion resistant pumps, of the type that comprise a box and cover assembly that define a chamber through which a pumping element housed within said chamber is pumped, fluid and in cooperation with the same to force fluid through said chamber, motor shaft means extended within said chamber and connected to said pumping element to effect rotation thereof within said chamber, said chamber comprising means that form an intake port and a discharge mouth for the fluid to be pumped, each of said inlet and discharge mouth means comprising means for connection to conduit means, sealing means in cooperation with said shaft to prevent fluid leakage between said shaft and said camera; characterized in that each pump is provided with a first and a second polytetrafluoroethylene coatings, of which one covers all surfaces of said box in contact with fluid and the other covers all surfaces of said cover assembly in contact with fluid., said linings comprising a first and a second neck portion respectively extending through said intake and discharge means, said linings and neck portions cooperating to provide a chamber and intake and discharge means fully lined with polytetrafluoroethylene, said comprising first and second linings peripheral parts that form a seal between the two, means that hold the peripheral parts of said linings against all radial movement, said second lining comprising an inner peripheral part clamped against all radial movement.
