Abstract

There is a stator and rotor in the centrifugal paddle chamber and a chamber for leaked fluid between the support for the brake and the centrifugal chamber. The rotor shaft is sealed relative to the housing by a non contact sealing system. The rotor shaft runs in a clearance which is connected at a point between the centrifugal chamber and the leakage chamber to a further chamber. This latter chamber has a connection back to the centrifugal chamber. The through flow fluid (normally water) is also connected to the clearance zone, this being approximately 1/300 of the rotor shaft radius. A double rotor design may be used.
