Abstract

866,896. Explosive charge projectiles. BREVETS AERO-MECANIQUES S.A. Jan. 25, 1960 [Jan. 26, 1959], No. 2699/60. Class 9(1). An explosive shell, in which the overall length L0 is 4À5 calibres and nose length L2 is 2 - 2À2 calibres, is generated by a convex generatrix intersecting the cylindrical wall of the body of the shell at an angle of about 3 - 5 degrees, and is characterized in that its centre of gravity is 2À7 - 3 calibres from the front end of the shell, and the ratio between the transverse inertia moment of the shell and its axial inertia moment is at the most equal to 8À1. The ratios between the weights of the body 1 and the explosive and/or incendiary charge 2 and the total weight of the shell are respectively greater than 0À75 and 0À083. The fuze 3 is of a light weight alloy or metal and the body 1 terminates at the rear in a portion of decreasing diameter, extending over a height L1 of 0À36 - 0À39 calibre, whilst the diameter of the base is 0À86 - 0À89 calibre.
