Abstract
866,548. Valves. GRINNELL CORPORATION. July 11, 1958 [July 11, 1957] No. 22280/58. Class 135. The body of a diaphragm valve having a straight-through bore portion 22 and a central tapered portion 15 is provided with a seating for engagement with the diaphragm 55 and consisting of a lower central rib 25 and upper branch ribs 24 which together encircle the bore openings in the region of the intersection of the tapered body portion 15 and the bore 22. The diaphragm has a central thickened portion 52 in which is embedded a stud 50 secured to the base of a diaphragm compressor 48 of truncated conical form and attached to the lower end of a screwed operating spindle 46. As an alternative to providing the seating on the valve body it may be formed as a rib of the same configuration on the surface of the diaphragm.
