Abstract

866,205. Rail constructions. ROSS, H. H. May 14, 1957 [Feb. 14, 1956; March 22, 1957], Nos. 4544/56 and 9462/57. Class 104 (2). [Also in Group X] A mobile-unit storage system comprises a row of stationary containers in front of which is disposed a row of mobile containers 8 having wheels 11, the rearmost pair of which are supported by a guide-rail 13 secured either to the rear containers or to a wall. The guide-rail consists of separate channel-sections 14, one associated with each rear container and secured thereto so that it rests on the floor, the sections being joined together by bridge sections 22 held in place by straps 24. The front wheels of the mobile container run on metal strips 25 secured to the floor. More than two rows of containers may be used by making a framework of two sleeper members across which are fastened a number of guide rails the rearmost of which is fastened to a set of stationary containers or a wall. The metal strips 25 are also secured to the sleeper members and rollers at the tops of the mobile containers engage a rail on the stationary containers to prevent tilting. A gap may be provided in the guide-rail for ease of access to rear containers, the mobile containers then being provided with three rear-wheels. Specification 866,206 is referred to.
