Abstract

<PICT:0865520/IV(c)/1> <PICT:0865520/IV(c)/2> In apparatus for oiling textile material the feed lattice of a textile opening machine from which textile material passes to an oiling unit is provided with means which gauges the amount of material passing therethrough and also operates a control device or mechanism which increases or decreases the amount of oil issuing from the spray nozzles of the oiling unit in proportion to the amount of textile material passing the spray nozzles. The means for gauging the amount of textile passing along the feed lattice may comprise a transversely mounted pivotal plate or series of fingers or weighted roller beneath which the material passes and the plate, series of fingers or roller rises and falls in accordance with the depth of textile material passing beneath. The pivotally mounted plate series of fingers or weighted roller may be connected with a suitable mechanism whereby the flow of oil from the spray nozzle is controlled, this mechanism being either electrical, mechanical, hydraulic or a combination thereof. When the control means is electrical a rheostat may be incorporated to control the opening and closing of a valve in an oiling circuit. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 a weighted roller 1 may be fixed to an arm 2 pivoted at 3 to the opening machine. Roller 1 may be driven by a belt above a conveyer 6, the arrangement being such that when no textile material passes along the conveyer roller 1 takes up position A, while the height of any textile material passing along conveyer 6 determines the height of roller 1 e.g. at position B, and through connections 7, 8, 9, lever 10 pivoted at 11 causes the corresponding quantity of oil to be delivered on to the textile material. In order that oil does not immediately flow when roller 1 is lifted an electrical delay mechanism may be incorporated in the system such that movement of arm 2 closes a switch 18 which sets in motion delay mechanism 19 which in turn operates valves 20, 21. In modifications (not shown) weighing of the quantities of textile materials fed to the opening machine are described. In other modifications (not shown) the controlling mechanism may actuate a pressure supply means e.g. a pump or compressed air by means of which oil under pressure is delivered to the nozzles.
